CSK : Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024 and will be eyeing a strong comeback in the forthcoming season. The five-time IPL champions have a reputation of doing well after a poor season and they will be looking to live up to the same reputation in IPL 2025.

For the next season, the Chennai-based outfit has bolstered its squad by making a number of new signings in the IPL 2025 mega auction. At the same time, they also missed out on a number of players and it could come back to haunt them in the upcoming season. So here we are taking a look at three such players.

IPL 2025: Players Chennai Super Kings will regret missing out on

Arshdeep Singh:

Chennai Super Kings needed a quality Indian fast-bowler and they made their intentions very clear from the very start. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side decided to bid for Arshdeep Singh who was the very first player to be auctioned.

CSK bid for the player till the INR 7.50 crore mark before pulling out of the race. In the end, Arshdeep was retained by Punjab Kings for INR 18 crore. Arshdeep is one of the best T20 bowlers in the world and having him in the squad would have been a big boost for Chennai Super Kings.

Deepak Chahar:

After missing out on Arshdeep Singh, Chennai Super Kings went for their former pacer Deepak Chahar. The Chennai-based franchise was desperate to sign up the fast bowler but missed out once again. Chahar was auctioned on day 2 and the Super Kings had already spent most of their purse by then.

They only had INR 13 crore left in their purse but still went all out for Chahar. CSK bid for the pacer to INR 9 crore before deciding to pull out. In the end, Mumbai Indians bought the pacer for INR 9.25 crore. Chahar has been playing for the Super Kings since 2018. Apart from Chahar and Arshdeep, Chennai also bid for other Indian pacers such as Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami but failed to land any of them.

Marcus Stoinis:

The Super Kings needed a quality fast-bowling allrounder as well and decided to go for Australia’s Marcus Stoinis. The veteran allrounder had scored a stunning match-winning century against Chennai in their backyard last year and it must have made a big impression on the franchise.

CSK went big for Stoinis, touching the 8 crore mark before pulling out. In the end, Stoinis was bought by Punjab Kings for INR 11 crore. Stoinis had played for Lucknow Super Giants last year. In 14 games, he had scored 388 runs with the help of a century and two fifties in addition to picking up four wickets.
